Story of sippihaw

The residents of the Village of Sippihaw enjoy living in a great location! We are in walking distance of downtown Varina and its unique shops and restaurants, a grocery store and Fuquay Varina High School. The Here We Grow daycare is located at one of our the three entrances. If you visit us, depending on the weather, you may see residents walking, riding their bikes or working in their yards.
We are able to navigate quickly through town with a quick turn onto Judd Parkway, which will soon loop entirely around town. Sippihaw is 15 minutes from the main campus of Wake Technical College and less than 10 minutes away from the Triangle Expressway/540 Outer Loop. The expressway cuts at least 15 minutes off a trip to Durham!
The Village of Sippihaw has 98 homes that were built between 1996 and 2007. We enjoy larger lots than many newer communities. The average lot is a third of an acre. In addition, the uniqueness of each home enhances the character of our community. We do not have an homeowners association. A pool and tennis court is conveniently located within our community. Membership is obtained by contacting the Sippihaw Swim and Tennis Club, Inc.
So why the name Sippihaw? Before North Carolina was fully settled, Indians still lived here. The local lore records their name or the name of their tribe several ways: Sippihaw, Sippahaw, Saxapahaw and Sissipahaw. However, there is no written or archeological proof of just who they were or the correct spelling of their name. Nevertheless, locals have loved the mysterious Sippihaw name which supposedly means "good will." At one time, the local post office was named Sippihaw. (1900—to 1902). In fact, our neighborhood is positioned on the old Sippihaw Golf Course. (Now you know why your yard is somewhat sandy:)
This website was launched in December 2013, with hopes of helping Sippihaw residents become more connected and to help those looking to relocate become more knowledgable about one of the best places to live in Fuquay Varina!
